1st Grade Pioneer Days

Mrs. Dittemore's first graders celebrated Kansas' birthday with Pioneer Days on January 27th. For the day, the children wore bonnets and coonskins caps as they dipped candles, wrote with quills on hornbooks, sewed a quilt square for a classroom quilt, made log cabins and covered wagons, and hammered a tin window decoration. The class agreed that pioneer life was exhausting but enjoyable.
