St. Joseph Parish provides a ministry of education through the operation of St. Joseph Catholic School (Preschool through Eighth Grade), our Parish School of Religion, our RCIA program, Bible study groups, and our Jesus Loves Children Hour. In addition, we offer a Baptism Preparation Class and preparation for First Reconciliation / First Holy Communion. St. Joseph Parish also provides parish support to our Catholic high schools.
Parish School of Religion
The PSR Program is staffed by parish volunteers devoted to educating the public school children of our parish. This ministry’s goal is to guide our children into forming a deep living, faith-filled relationship with God. The PSR Program works in conjunction with St. Joseph School to provide a community atmosphere. Classes begin in late August or early September and meet on Wednesday evenings in the Parish Hall from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. for students in Kindergarten through Eighth Grade. Ninth Grade PSR is held in Room #1 of the Parish Center and meets on Sunday evenings from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. For more information, please contact Betty Ewing at 265-5760.
The Confirmation Program is a two-year program that begins in October and runs through April, meeting every other Sunday. Students must be a sophomore in high school to begin this program. For more information, please contact Father Smeltzer.
RCIA
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the process by which adults become members of the Roman Catholic Church. This process is concerned with the total formation of the person through their conversion, growth in their faith, and their unfolding life in the church community. For more information, please contact the rectory or Dan Allis at 729-5706.
Baptism
Parents must be registered in the parish for three months and are required to attend a Baptism Class before the baptism of their child. For more information, please contact the church secretary at 316-261-5812 to register.
First Reconciliation / First Holy Communion
Students ready for Reconciliation will make their First Confession on the last Friday of February. Students who have completed preparations for First Holy Communion usually will receive this Sacrament on the first Sunday in May. Anyone completing preparations for Confirmation will receive this Sacrament in the spring. Please call the rectory for more information.
