Stewardship Update

You will show me the path of life, abounding joy in Your presence, the delights at Your right hand forever.

Psalm 16:11

Jesus has shown us the path to abounding joy. It comes when we give generously of ourselves. It comes when we love and serve one another. Like the disciples on the road to Emmaus, we don’t always recognize Jesus’ way. Or maybe we try to ignore it.

Attention Internet Surfers

Wouldn’t it be nice if a percentage of every search you made online went to support our school? Well, now it can! GoodSearch.com is a new Yahoo-powered search engine that donates half its advertising revenue, about a penny per search, to the charities its users designate. Use it just as you would any search engine, get quality search results from Yahoo, and watch the donations add up! GoodShop.com is a new online shopping mall which donates up to 37 percent of each purchase to your favorite cause! Hundreds of great stores including Amazon, Target, Gap, Best Buy, ebay, Macy's and Barnes & Noble have teamed up with GoodShop and every time you place an order, you’ll be supporting your favorite cause. Just go to
www.goodsearch.com
and be sure to enter St. Joseph Catholic School - Wichita as the charity you want to support. And, be sure to spread the word!

Dillon Dollars

Dillon Dollars enables the Altar Society to purchase many things for the Church.  Everyone needs to eat and so this fundraiser is a painless activity. Dillon Dollars can be used the same as cash, but 4% of the face value of the certificates goes to the St. Joseph’s Altar Society for use in special projects for the Church and Parish. Dillon Dollars can be purchased before and after Masses and at the Rectory during open office hours.

Soup Labels & Box Tops

Help support St. Joseph School by collecting Campbell’s Soup Labels and General Mills Box Tops.  These can be brought to the church office, school office, or dropped off in the Sunday collection. If you are unsure of which part to save, save the whole label. Thank you.

Food Collections

St. Joseph Parish collects food every 2nd Sunday of the month even though we no longer have a food pantry. We will either take the food to Catholic Charities or make food boxes to have available. Often times people will stop by who are on the road or living on the streets; it would be nice to have small boxes of food to give them. Some suggested items for these boxes are cereal or granola bars, canned meats and fruits with pop top lids, peanut butter, crackers, nuts, anything healthy that does not require preparation as well as toilet paper and paper towels. If you would like to help transport groceries to Catholic Charities or help assemble these food boxes, please contact Pam Deitchler at 261-5812. Thank you for your continued generosity.

Boxtops

Don’t forget to save your “Boxtops for Education” for the school. These are found on many products (not just food products). So look for the “Boxtop” label, cut them out and bring them to the school (or drop into the collection). Our school receives cash for each label.

Parking Lot Prudence

Recently there have been several police reports of vehicles being broken into during Sunday Mass times. Please watch out for any suspicious activity and report it immediately to 911. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR VALUABLES IN YOUR CAR. Leave no trace – don’t leave signs of valuables by leaving phone chargers, docking stations or connector cables in view. LOCK ALL YOUR VEHICLES DOORS. It only takes seconds for someone to steal your things. It is not uncommon for thieves to walk down rows of cars and check to see if the doors are locked. Also, don’t leave any windows open. If something is stolen out of your car or if it has been broken into, do not touch/adjust anything in, on, or around the car. As soon as possible, call the police to report the incident.

Statewide Novena

May 23 - May 31 (Feast of the Blessed Virgin Mary). Join this statewide 9-day Novena with prayer and fasting. Masses will be offered across the state of Kansas for this intention during the Novena. Daily pray the USA Novena Prayer.

USA Novena Prayer

O Father, Author of Life, we forever entrust and consecrate our State and the usA to the Hearts of Jesus and Mary. The government is threatening our religious liberty by mandating we violate our conscience, and more importantly, has taken away the right to life of unborn children. By this Novena we pray for relgious freedom, make reparation for our nation’s sins against life, and ask You to end abortion, human embryo research, in vitro fertilization (IVF) which freezes and kills “extra” children, human cloning, euthanasia, and contraception. O Merciful God, guide the leaders of our nation and all Americans to forever establish a culture of life, love, and liberty. We ask this through the intercession of Mary, the Immaculate Conception, the patroness of our country, and through the intercession of St. Joseph, Guardian of the Church. In the Holy Name of Jesus Christ, Our Lord, Amen!
